Gabriela Nirino in International Virtual Art Call INTERVENED FACE MASKS
The CAAT (Argentine Textile Arts Centre), within the context of Social, Preventive and Compulsory Lockdown, launched an art call for any discipline artists, living both in Argentina or overseas, to present an INTERVENED FACE MASK during the months May and June 2020. At different times in history face masks were adopted as a protective measure against contamination. In China their daily wear is usual among citizens as a tool for community care. Nowadays, due to this coronavirus pandemic in which we are all involved, face masks wear has expanded worldwide for self and public protection. This art call in which the face mask, whether created or intervened by participants, is the star has resulted in a real celebration of creativity. PDF Catalogue available here.
