SDA member Flora Carlile-Kovacs is offering two Hungarian felt tours in 2017, after the success among her students of her 2016 Hungarian felt tour!

 

East Hungary Felt Tour 
(April 20–May 1)
12 days

  • Five days of workshops with the best Hungarian felt masters:
    Bottle Holder with Nomadic Design with Mihály Vetró
    Pillow with Prefelt Technique with Gabriella Kovács
    3D Felted Home Decor with Márti Csille
    Felted Jewelry with Judit Pócs
  • Fifth-generation hatmaker Gyula Mihalkó shows his centuries-old processes in Balmazújváros
  • Mihály Vetró presents a slide show and lecture on his field trips to nomadic feltmaker tribes
  • Tour the unique Folk Craft School of Nádudvar
  • Visit the Royal Castle and the outstanding Art Nouveau exhibition of Gödöllő
  • Discover the treasures of Budapest and its contemporary craft markets
  • Experience a Turkish bath

West Hungary Felt Tour 
(May 3–14) 
12 days

  • Five days of workshops with two internationally recognized felt masters:
    Sculptural Hat with Judit Pócs
    Woven Felt Bag
    with Vanda Róbert
  • Visit the old towns of Tata, Győr and Veszprém
  • Visit the 1,000-year-old Pannonhalma Arch Abbey
  • See a guided tour of the Festetics Castle of Keszthely
  • Discover the treasures of Budapest and its contemporary craft markets
  • Experience a Turkish bath

Born in Hungary, Flora Carlile-Kovacs is a felt designer and instructor who teaches felt workshops at the Pacific Northwest Art School on Whidbey Island. She has been selling her work at the Iparos Gallery in Prague since 2005. Her studio is part of the West Seattle Art Walk.

Cost, each tour: $2,550 (not including airfare)
