SDA members are meeting at the home of Patricia Belyea, owner of Okan Arts.  Patricia imports and sells vintage hand-dyed Japanese yukata cottons. Right now she has the largest inventory in North America with approximately 470 bolts.

We’ll check out the various pattern styles of yukata cottons as well as talk about yukatas in Japanese culture and the chusen printing process.

A Studio Sale You Won’t Want To Miss……

studiosale

Hi SDA Pals – I’m moving to Portland at the end of August (to be closer to family).

On Saturday August 17th from 10-5 pm I’ll be having a studio sale

LOTS of great (and some weird) stuff. Furniture: tables, cabinets, chairs, stools/Supplies: paper, pens, paint, inks, fabric, craft supplies, books, odds and ends.

Pricing will be EXTREMELY reasonable. I have rented a new studio in Portland, but it’s not as large and I don’t want to move lots of stuff.

Feel free to email me with any questions about what’s available.

Hope to see you Saturday the 17th!

Best – Maude

Oh – my studio is at BallardWorks -2852 NW Market – corner of 30th and Market, across the street from the Taco Time – parking in front – last French door on the left as you face the building – Spark Studio

Coming to the Dancing Surfaces Reception on Friday?

Here’s some traffic information that will make it easier!

SDA Dancing Surfaces
Friday, August 9th reception 7-9PM
Phinney Art Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103

Traffic Revision

Travelling to the Phinney Center and parking will be a challenge for the reception on Friday. Friday is the Summer Streets event in the Phinney neighborhood. At 6:00, Greenwood/Phinney Street will be closed at 67th street up to 87th street. So, guests will want to arrive at the lower parking lot by approaching the Phinney Neighborhood Center from the east, on 67th street or from the south. There will be plenty of signage and people help directing guests. Also the Farmers Market will be running from 3-7PM in the upper lot, which will impact parking. Here is more information about Summer Streets: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/summer_green.htm.
