Regional Shows:
VALA Art Center
VALA has moved to a new, larger space! They are still in the Redmond town square amidst all the shopping action, but now in a beautiful exhibition space. While the move came in the middle of our planning, the outcome is that we will be able to display many pieces that we thought might be too large for the old space, so there will be no limitation on the size of pieces for the regional show! Eastside SDA members will have additional time to enter other pieces larger than the original 12 by 12” restriction — we have extended the entry deadline until 10/29/16. Eastside SDA artists who live or work in the Eastside area (Renton, Fall City, North Bend, Redmond, Newcastle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Woodinville, Carnation, Medina, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Snoqualmie or Bothell) are qualified to submit.
All entries will be reviewed and acceptance sent out no later than Tuesday November 1. The pieces need to arrive at VALA by mail Friday Nov 4-Sat Nov 5, or drop off on Sunday Nov 6 between 10 and 2. Requests for dropping off earlier at Christina’s home in Bellevue possible, just send us an email with your phone number and we’ll be in touch. Fill out your entry at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTuzXhiOCIh8cjjrdYp6Is3ihHmWIx5UDsXsPcdchAim7Iug/viewform?c=0&w=1 . New submissions can supersede prior submission – just note on the form!

Northwind Arts Center
The regional component of the Fiber Fusion exhibition will happen at the Pt Townsend Public Library.

The regional show will likely run from February through April, 2017. We are hoping to sponsor workshops, classes and presentations by SDA members. SDA members who live in the Kitsap or Olympic Peninsula area are qualified to enter. Stay tuned for more information about a theme, allowable size for entries, and entry deadlines. If you would like to be involved with the planning for this show please email Susanne Scott infotectives@gmail.com or Barbara Houshmand barbarahoushmand@gmail.com or attend a monthly SDA meeting on the second Wednesday.
Schack Art Center

We also have good news about the Schack Art Center where space abounds! There will be no size limit on size of pieces submitted for the regional component of the show! There is an especially large free-standing and pedestal space on the main floor. The only size limitation is no new submission of light-weight hanging pieces that might activate the motion detection system. SDA members who live in Seattle, North Sound, Whidbey Island and South Sound areas are eligible to enter. Schack also has wonderful workshop space for wet dyeing, printing, and presentations. Prospectus will be forthcoming.
